We provide FREE* career guidance services to help our clients to identify, plan and then reach their potential in the workforce. Our Jobs & Skills Centre consultants support our clients to create effective resumes and job applications that bring out their best and prepare them for that vital interview. We work alongside key community organisations and employers across the Great Southern and Goldfields-Esperance to link our clients to the many possibilities available across these regions. Our services are available as an individual or as part of group workshops. The Jobs & Skills Centre is a service funded by the Department of Training & Workforce Development.
As a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation, we customise training for individuals, groups and businesses with a focus on business and retail studies.

We also pride ourselves in providing accessible, supported and engaging training solutions for a wide range of audiences in particular for young people, job seekers and people with disabilities.
Our training is delivered in a range of non-traditional class-room based settings and our qualified trainers work closely with the individual student groups to engage and support them in their learning, life skills and communication. Our focus is on ensuring our students, trainees and careers’ customers are supported while assisting them to reach their individual goals.

Future Moves Program
This program has been revised and streamlined to embrace 5 workshop activities that are suited to years 9 – 12. The program includes:
- Career Planning
- Preparing for life after school (includes an introduction to the concept of career planning and the SODI Model, Self-Awareness, Opportunity Awareness, Decision Making and Implementation)
- Building your personality profile – (using the well-established 5 Minute Personality Profile) The session will highlight the link between the student’s likes and dislikes and their relation to occupational choice
- Researching your career using the WA Careers Resource Centre (computer lab session)
- This session provides participants with an opportunity to start researching their own job ideas and to access up to date and relevant career information. It also includes an opportunity to complete the Careers Centre online skills assessment
- Post school options – The value of VET and Higher Education
- To increase participants understanding of Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education. The session focuses on local VET opportunities, pathways to university, University entrance requirements and the types of programs and courses available.
- An introduction to job search and developing employability skills
This session highlights:- The different ways participants can access employment opportunities
- The importance of developing the 8 key employability skills employers require (as identified by the Australian Chamber of commerce and Industry)
- A brief introduction to resumes and cover letters
- Developing a Career Action Plan and course review – computer lab session
- Introduces the concept of career action plans to provide participants with the opportunity to start completing their own action plan
Work Experience Preparation
This workshop focuses on the importance of work experience, what employers look for are, and the value of developing new skills
Post Work Experience Review
Reflection on the work placement, skills developed, workplace learning, future planning and goal setting, incorporating experiences into a resume
Preparing for the workplace (specifically for young people)
- A young person’s rights and responsibilities in the work place
- Managing conflict in the workplace
Job Interview Skills
Gain the confidence and knowledge to perform at your best in the job interview. This workshop covers everything you need to know about how to prepare, how to perform, and how to follow up after the interview
Create a Resume and Cover Letter
Learn how to promote yourself and gain the employers’ full attention through developing a tailored and powerful resume and cover letter
How to Address Key Selection Criteria
This workshop will teach you how to effectively address key selection criteria and help you develop the skills you need to be successful with job applications.
Job Seeking Skills
Find out what you need to do to be successful with your job seeking. This workshop will provide you with practical tips and offer you ongoing support.
Computer Basics and Job Applications
If you do not feel confident in using a computer to assist you in your job applications and job hunting, then this course if for you. Learn how to apply some of the key computing skills like using word processing skills to create great resumes and letters, apply for jobs online with confidence, store and retrieve your files, and surf the internet for job vacancies.
